Who is Joan Kuhl?

I’m a mom of two daughters, a big sister, and I have a long history of involvement in organizations that serve girls (Girls Inc. of NYC, Girl Scouts, Girls Hope, Step Up for Women, US Soccer SheBelieves, Girls On The Run, Girls Leadership, and LiveGirl). I’ve served as a board member, content designer, coach, and volunteer because I believe in the power of mentorship, and that investing in a girl’s self-confidence can accelerate her leadership skills and impact in the world. After 14 years of working at global corporations, I launched my business in 2013, with the mission to advance and retain women in the workplace, and to build inclusive cultures where women of all ages and stages can thrive. Leveraging my expertise in Gender and Generation Dynamics, I conduct global research studies, advise corporations and business schools, and facilitate training and consulting engagements in five time zones. Early in my entrepreneurial journey, I was the career expert for Barnes & Noble College – leading research and running workshops for their network of 750+ schools of five million plus students.
The time I spent researching and exploring our youngest generations' motivators deeply informed my vision for building inclusive, equitable workplaces.

In the earliest years of my life, I watched my mother take risks to embrace her ambition, and this instilled in me a belief that girls and women have the right to pursue their potential. For almost the first decade of my life, she raised me as a single mother, and did her best with the knowledge and resources she could access. But things got tough, especially when her confidence was tested working in a male-dominated field. Back then, there was nothing like what is available today for grownups who want to empower their girls. While things have improved, there is room for growth, and I am convinced that my strong voice and perspective can make a difference.
